Energy subsidy of EUR 380 in the Netherlands in 2022 and new energy tariffs for 2023

Energy Subsidy Netherlands

Energy Subsidy  Netherlands and New Energy Rates for 2023

How much will the subsidy be in 2022?

Due to the energy shortage that currently affects much of the European continent, inflation and the economic recession that is getting closer, the Dutch government has announced some measures to help consumers with high energy costs.

Thus, in recent days the door has been opened to the delivery of a subsidy of 380 euros for each client, regardless of the energy company they are using, during the months of November and December 2022. In other words, 190 euros will be send in the month of November and 190 euros in the month of December 2022, in order to help with the great price increase for the energy service. All residents of the country can make use of this subsidy.

How can we receive the subsidy in 2022?

The Dutch government has determined that each Dutch energy company distributes the subsidy to each customer.

Some companies, such as Vattenfall, propose to send the subsidy to the bank account of their clients, while other companies are considering paying these subsidies in the consumption bills of the respective months. In the next few days, each client will receive a communication from the energy company to announce the plan for these subsidies.

What will happen to energy tariff from January 2023?

On the other hand, the Dutch government has established the base rates to help cope with the high energy costs, it was decreed that as of January 1, 2023, a maximum price for the energy service will be applied as follows; for gas it would have a maximum rate of €1.45 per cubic meter until reaching a maximum consumption of 1,200 cubic meters, when this consumption passes the rate per additional cubic meter will be applied as included in the service contract, while for electricity the rate would be reduced from €0.70 to €0.40 per KWh and the consumption limit was increased from 2,400 kWh to 2,900 kWh.

Small consumers, self-employed (zzp), shops (winkels), associations (verenigingen), small social organizations (kleine maatschappelijke) and part of small SMEs (kleine mkb) will be able to benefit from the subsidy

For SMEs that maintain high energy consumption, a specific help plan was created called the TEK plan (Energy Cost Contribution plan), you can consult us for more information about this plan for SMEs.

Extra subsidy from other organizations

The help that the Dutch government is providing is added to the so-called energy surcharge that the government established in the first half of 2022 for low-income households (households with income of a maximum of 120% of the social minimum), and that now you will have an additional bonus, this subsidy is administered by the Municipality (Gemeente) and there are some conditions to access it, you can contact us for more information.
